PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES


To provide substantial and applied knowledge in the field of strategy, tactics, methods and the media and journalism. To combine practice and theory and benefit from modern distance learning, through constantly updated multimedia educational material, teleconferences and online lectures, the Postgraduate Programme "Communication and New Journalism" offers the student, working or not, the opportunity to expand his / her way of thinking, by providing motivation and further skills for his / her professional advancement and empowerment, but also by expanding his / her prospects for the future.


Supported by an excellent team of professors with academic distinctions, high professional training and extensive experience in the field of communication and journalism, the programme gives the student the necessary bases for his /her development: specialised knowledge and training, in order to develop and achieve his /her personal and professional goals in modern, open, super-communicative, dense networking and uninterrupted publishing.

WHY CHOOSE TO ATTEND?

The Postgraduate Programme offers employment options in several fields. Graduates can be employed as communication consultants, journalists, communication - brand managers, marketing directors, advertisers, public relations managers, social media managers.

They can also work on writing, publishing, organising and promoting all kinds of publications (books, newspapers, magazines, advertising and newsletters and digital applications). Further, they can work on writing texts for television and radio productions, interviews, portraits, documentaries and feature stories. At the same time, a postgraduate degree can be a tool for improving the social and working life of any conscious citizen, regardless of profession.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The minimum requirement for admission to a postgraduate programme is an undergraduate degree from an accredited Higher Education Institution.


Candidates are also advised to have the following skills:

  • Very good knowledge of English, as they will be asked to access English-language bibliography.
  • Adequate knowledge of computers (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and Internet, in order to be able to meet the educational requirements of distance learning.
  • Be familiar with the Media and Social Media.
  • A computer with an internet connection, headphones and microphone, as they will actively participate in teleconferences.
    Smartphone, as they will be asked to use it during the educational process.  

TUITION FEES

The tuition fees for the postgraduate programme amount to 5,400 Euro. The tuition fees per module are 675 Euro. Note that the cost for the Master Thesis is 1,350 Euro.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE


The programme offers two (2) academic directions:

  • Communication
  • New Journalism

To complete the programme and obtain a postgraduate degree in "Communication and New Journalism" successful attendance and examination are required:


in eight (8) semester Modules or


in six (6) semester Modules and in addition the completion of a Master Thesis.

 

1st year of study

The first year of study is a joint follow-up for both directions and includes the following four (4) compulsory Modules:

EDM511, Contemporary World: The political condition

EDM512, Understanding Media: The News making process

EDM521, Contemporary World: The social condition

EDM522, Understanding Media: Effects and power

 

2nd year of study

In the second year, the student chooses one of the two directions and attends - in both directions - two (2) compulsory Modules and two (2) electives of practical orientation. At the same time, the student becomes familiar with both the existing new technologies of the Media and social networking, as well as those that are expected to emerge in the near future. The student may choose, instead of the two electives, to prepare a Master Thesis.
