Τhe programme is offered jointly by the Open University of Cyprus and the Hellenic Open University.
The mission of the new undergraduate programme in Business Economics is to provide solid understanding of the central theories and analytical tools of the field of economics and apply these to businesses and the business environment.
The programme introduces students to macro- and microeconomic theory and business management, teaches them to think and write clearly about economic problems and policy issues and enables them to develop an in-depth understanding of the economic factors that influence business success and decision-making.
First three years’ modules/courses provide a solid background in economics and management, while the final year is more flexible, allowing students to tailor their degree according to their interests.

To address the demands of today’s labor market, as well as the diverse academic and professional aspirations of its graduates, the Undergraduate Programme in Business Economics provides students with a broad foundation of knowledge and a deep understanding of core theories and analytical tools in the field of economics.
A degree in Business Economics offers significant value, as few academic programs open such a wide range of career opportunities. Our graduates are thoroughly prepared to enter the job market successfully and to pursue advancement across multiple sectors in both the public and private spheres.

The Open University of Cyprus (OUC), through its participation in the European project "Liaison Offices with the Labour Market", offers to students of all its programmes of study, the optional and free of charge Thematic Unit (i.e. Module) entitled "Industry Placement". This module provides students opportunities for a placement to gain professional experience in their particular field of study, and the hosting institution can be any public or private organisation operating in the Republic of Cyprus.
Each student has the right to participate in this offering once or twice during his / her studies, provided that s/he meets the required conditions.

Applicants must have:
- Upper Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Apolyterion or equivalent)
- All candidates need to demonstrate that they meet the University’s English language requirements by submitting the relevant certificates along with their application (minimum grade IELTS 5.5 or any other equivalent). Details of the specific English language requirements can be found here.
Additional conditions for attending the Programme offered online:
- Adequate knowledge of computer use, so that students can meet the educational requirements of the Programme (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and the online meetings.
- Computer with internet connection, headphones and microphone, as students will actively participate in teleconferences / online lectures and / or online evaluations and tutorials.

To obtain the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economics, students are required to attend and successfully complete twenty-four (24) Modules, of which eighteen (18) are compulsory and six (6) are elective.
