This module is the first in a series of two courses, which provide an overview of methods, tools and techniques used to study user behaviors and attitudes, including qualitative and quantitative approaches. The methods covered are thus of interest to those who want to glean information from users, in order to inform the design of interactive applications and systems. Likewise, they can be put to use by those who want to evaluate the quality of an application or system and/or its impact on users. After providing an introduction to the practice of user-focused research and evaluation, this first module focuses on qualitative methods.
