Ο Δρ. Βάιος Λιαπής σπούδασε κλασική φιλολογία στα Πανεπιστήμια Αθηνών (1990-1994, πτυχίο) και Γλασκώβης (1994-1997, διδακτορικό δίπλωμα). Δίδαξε στα Πανεπιστήμια Κύπρου, Μοντρεάλ και Πατρών, καθώς και στην École Normale Supérieure (Παρίσι) ως επισκέπτης καθηγητής.

Έχει, επίσης, διατελέσει μέλος του Ινστιτούτου Προηγμένων Σπουδών (Princeton) και υπότροφος διαφόρων ιδρυμάτων (Program in Hellenic Studies, Princeton University, Margo Tytus Summer Fellow, University of Cincinnati, κτλ). Έχει διατελέσει επικεφαλής ερευνητικών έργων χρηματοδοτούμενων από τον ομοσπονδιακό καναδικό οργανισμό Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council και από το Ίδρυμα Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας της Κύπρου.

Ο Καθηγητής Λιαπής έχει δημοσιεύσει τρεις (3) μονογραφίες (Μενάνδρου Γνώμαι Μονόστιχοι, Αθήνα 2002· Άγνωστος Θεός, Αθήνα 2003· A Commentary on the Rhesus Attributed to Euripides, Oxford 2012). Επίσης, έχει συνεπιμεληθεί πέντε (5) συλλογικούς τόμους σε συνεργασία με πανεπιστημιακούς από την Κύπρο και το εξωτερικό (Βρετανία, Καναδάς).

Πολυάριθμα άρθρα και βιβλιοκρισίες του έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε διεθνή περιοδικά (Harvard Studies in Classical Philology, Journal of Hellenic Studies, The Classical Quarterly, The Classical Review, American Journal of Philology, Transactions of the American Philological Association, κτλ.), καθώς και σε συλλογικούς τόμους.

SHORT VITA

Dr.  Liapis studied Classics at the Universities   of Athens (BA, 1990-1994) and  Glasgow (PhD, 1994- 1997). He has taught at the Universities of Cyprus, Montreal, Patras, and (as Visiting Professor) at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris.

He has been a Member of the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton) and has held various research Fellowships (Program in Hellenic Studies, Princeton University; Margo Tytus Summer Fellow, University of Cincinnati; etc.).

He has been Principal Investigator for research projects  funded  by  the  Social  Sciences    and Humanities Research Council of Canada, and by the Research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus.

Dr. Liapis has published three monographs (Menandri Sententiae, Athens 2002  [in  Greek];  The Unknown God, Athens 2003 [in Greek]; and A Commentary on the Rhesus Attributed to Euripides, Oxford 2012). He has also co-edited  5  volumes in   collaboration with academics from Cyprus and elsewhere (UK, Canada).  He  has published extensively  in   leading academic journals  (e.g. Harvard  Studies in Classical Philology, Journal of Hellenic Studies, The Classical Quarterly, The Classical Review, American Journal of Philology, Transactions of the American Philological Association), as well as in edited volumes.
