H Δρ. Χρύσθια Παπακλεοβούλου είναι Επίκουρη Καθηγήτρια Εμπορικού Δικαίου στο Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Είναι απόφοιτος του King’s College University of London πτυχίου νομικής, μεταπτυχιακού στο Αγγλο-Αμερικανικό Δίκαιο με

έπαινο από το City University London, ενώ εκπόνησε τη Διδακτορική της Διατριβή με τίτλο “The Emerging Global Corporation” με υποτροφία στο University of London, London Birkbeck College.

Είναι Honorary Fellow of the Association of Fellows & Legal Scholars of the Centre of International Legal Studies και μέλος του Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Προ της εκλογής της το 2018 στο ΑΠΚΥ, η Δρ. Παπακλεοβούλου ασκούσε δικηγορία με εξειδίκευση στο εταιρικό και εμπορικό δίκαιο, τις διασυνοριακές εμπορικές και δικαστικές διαφορές, τις συμβάσεις και το δίκαιο της ακίνητης περιουσίας, το κληρονομικό δίκαιο και διαδοχή και το δίκαιο των εμπιστευμάτων, και ασχολείτο με ένα ευρύ φάσμα ιδιωτικού δικαίου. Έχει δώσει γνωματεύσεις ως εμπειρογνώμονας στο High Court of London και σε International Arbitration Tribunals.

Στο παρελθόν έχει δίδαξει δίκαιο των εμπιστευμάτων, δίκαιο των εταιρειών, δίκαιο των συμβάσεων, φορολογικό δίκαιο, δίκαιο της διεθνούς εμπορικής διαιτησίας, διεθνές οικονομικό δίκαιο, αγγλική νομική ορολογία, πτωχευτικό δίκαιο και Ευρωπαϊκό

εταιρικό δίκαιο σε ιδιωτικά πανεπιστήμια στην Κύπρο, καθώς και Εμπορικό Δίκαιο στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου.

Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα επικεντρώνονται στο δίκαιο των εταιρειών και τις διασυνοριακές εμπορικές διαφορές και δικαστηριακές διαφορές, στη σύγκρουση νόμων, στη χρήση εταιρικών, φορολογικών δομών, καθώς και στο δίκαιο των

εμπιστευμάτων και τη διεθνή εμπορική διαιτησία, με έμφαση στη διαιτησία δυνάμει διμερών Συνθηκών αναφορικά με επενδύσεις. Έχει παρουσιάσει εισηγήσεις σε τοπικά και διεθνή συνέδρια, ενώ έχει αριθμό διεθνών δημοσιεύσεων σε θέματα εμπορικού δικαίου και εταιρικού δικαίου.

  • Δίκαιο των Εταιρειών & Εμπορικό Δίκαιο: Εταιρικό Δίκαιο ειδικά σε σχέση με διασυνοριακές εμπορικές διαφορές και υποθέσεις απάτης. Εταιρικές δομές και φορολογικές δομές, καταπολέμηση φοροαποφυγής, έλεγχος και εποπτεία. Ευρωπαϊκό εταιρικό και φορολογικό δίκαιο.
  • Διεθνές Οικονομικό Δίκαιο και Παγκόσμιος Οργανισμός Εμπορίου.
  • Διεθνής Εμπορική Διαιτησία & Διεθνής Διαιτησία στο πλαίσιο των Επενδυτικών Συνθηκών.
  • Οικονομική κρίση στην Ευρώπη και προκλήσεις στο θεσμικό πλαίσιο:Νομοθεσία περί εξυγίανσης στην Κύπρο μετά το bail-in, δικαστικές αποφάσεις, ρόλος της Κεντρικής Τράπεζας και το Ευρωπαϊκό Τραπεζικό Δίκαιο.

SHORT VITA

Dr. Chrysthia Papacleovoulou is an Assistant Professor of Commercial Law at Open University of Cyprus. She had her LLB-Law from King’s College University of London, an LLM in Anglo-American Law with Commendation from City University London, and her Ph.D. thesis entitled “The Εmerging Global Corporation” from University of London, London Birkbeck College, with scholarship.

She is an Honorary Fellow of the Association of Fellows & Legal Scholars of the Centre of International Legal Studies. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

She has taught, inter alia, business law, trust law, company law, tax law, international commercial arbitration and international economic law at private universities in Cyprus and business law at the University of Cyprus. Dr. Papacleovoulou‘s specialisation is on business law and she has given expert legal opinions before the High Court of London and International Arbitration Tribunals.

Her research interests are focused on company law, cross-border disputes and the use of tax and corporate structures, trust law and international commercial arbitration with emphasis on Bilateral Investment Treaties Arbitration. She has presented papers at local and international conferences, and has published in international journals and book sections.

  • Company & Commercial Law: company law in relation to cross border corporate disputes and fraud cases. Corporate structures and tax structures – combating of tax planning, regulation, reporting and supervision. European company law and taxation law.
  • International Economic Law- WTO.
  • International Commercial Arbitration and International Investment Arbitration
  • Banking and Financial crisis in Europe and challenges to the institutional framework: Cyprus bail-in, critique of judicial decisions. Central Bank instrumental role in Bail-in /reckless supervision.
  • Private law, Cyprus Trust Law & Equity.
