OUC Vice-Rector Professor Yannis Manolopoulos recognized as one of the top scientists in Computer Science in the world ranking list ‘Guide2Research’

Professor Yannis Manolopoulos, Vice Rector of the Open University of Cyprus, has been recognized as a top scientist in Greece according to the Guide2Research 2020 Computer Science and Electronics Top Scientists Ranking. The ranking was recently released by Guide2Research, one of the leading portals for computer science research. Professor Manolopoulos is ranked #10th of all Computer Scientists working in Greek universities and research centers. For this 6th edition of the ranking more than 6.000 scientist profiles were examined, with their position in the ranking being based on H-index value of Google Scholar. Only scientists with an H-index of 40 or above were considered, provided that their publications are in the field of computer science and indexed to the Digital Bibliography and Library Project (DBLP). The aim of the Guide2Research list is to inspire researchers, decision makers and entrepreneurs around the world to find out where leading experts are heading.

 

Yannis Manolopoulos is Professor of the Open University of Cyprus and serves as its first Vice-Rector. He taught at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), the University of Toronto, the University of Maryland at College Park and the University of Cyprus. He has served as President of the University of Western Macedonia in Greece, Head of the Department of Informatics of AUTH, and Vice-Chair of the Greek Computer Society. His research interests focus in Data Management. He has co-authored 5 monographs published by Springer, 11 textbooks in Greek, as well as more than 350 journal and conference papers. He has also received 5 best paper awards from SIGMOD, ECML/PKDD, MEDES (2) and ISSPIT conferences. He has received 14.700 citations from 2.200 distinct academic institutions (h-index=55). He has also acted as evaluator for funding agencies in Austria, Georgia, Greece, Estonia, European Union, Israel, Italy, Canada, Cyprus, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Czech Republic, and Hong-Kong.
