Student Industry placements

The Open University of Cyprus has been participating in the European Project “University Liaison Offices with the Labor Market" since 2016. The main aim of the project is to place students in businesses and organizations to gain professional experience related to their field of study.

For this purpose, the relevant module "Student Industry Placement” has been incorporated into all study programs. Additionally, the Open University of Cyprus offers this module free of charge to all students enrolled at the University.

Students who meet the requirements of each study program are eligible to participate in placements:

  • Information on the prerequisites of study programs offered in the Greek Language can be found here.

Placements can be full-time or part-time and last for at least 1 month and 150 hours. Each student has the right to participate in 2 placements, which must take place in different academic semesters and host organizations. Placements can be carried out in:

  • Educational, research, and cultural institutions,
  • Government or semi-governmental organizations,
  • Private enterprises,
  • Non-profit organizations, etc.

Expression of Interest: At the beginning of each academic semester, students receive notification via email regarding the commencement of the application period to participate in the program.

Student Career Coaching Program

This program is an innovative initiative designed based on internationally recognized standards, aiming to equip the students of the University with the necessary skills, ideas, and strategies for their successful journey in the modern job market. Through this program, participants:

  • Develop a clear individual career plan,
  • Approach interviews and networking opportunities with confidence and preparation,
  • Acquire skills useful for their entire professional journey.

The program is offered on a semester basis and includes individual online meetings. Specific days and times are scheduled according to the availability of participants after the application deadline.

Career Month

The "Career Month" takes place on a semester basis and is exclusively offered to the university community. During this period, students and graduates have the opportunity to attend free online workshops, informational seminars on career-related topics, and participate in networking and professional development activities.

Information on Career Development and Networking Opportunities

The Career and Liaison Office provides career information to the students of the University through targeted electronic newsletters about available job, professional development, and networking opportunities both nationally and internationally.

Student Career Counseling Sessions
 

During the academic year, the Career and Liaison Office offers brief career counseling sessions to the students of the University, upon request. These sessions may cover topics such as resume evaluation, job interview preparation etc., and can be provided via written communication, phone calls, and/or arranged online meetings.
