The Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Current Trends and Developments in International Investment Law and International Commercial & Investment Arbitration”, organized by the Mobility Office of the Open University of Cyprus (OUC), was a great success. The Programme was held with the participation of 21 students and three (3) professors from six (6) foreign Universities. The Scientific Coordinator of the BIP for the OUC was Assistant Professor Chrysthia Papakelovoulou. Within the framework of the programme, lectures, presentations and discussions were held between professors, students and professionals in the field of Law.

The main objective of the Program was to study contemporary trends in International Arbitration, which is an effective method of dispute resolution. Specifically, the BIP focused on the areas of International Investment and Commercial Arbitration, addressing specific cases. The benefits achieved by the BIP are enormous, as knowledge and experiences from various sides were shared, thus strengthening the effort to develop a culture in favor of International Arbitration, as well as the cultivation of intercultural cooperation and the creation of strong bonds between collaborating academics.

The BIP implementation consortium, coordinated by the OUC, includes six (6) Universities (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, FernUniversity in Hagen, Riga Graduate School of Law, University of Hamburg, University of Kragujevac, Bucharest University of Economic Studies) from (5) countries (Greece, Germany, Latvia, Serbia, Romania). The sponsors and supporters of the educational program were the Cyprus Bar Association and the Cyprus Arbitration & Mediation Centre.

Special thanks are due to the American University of Beirut - Mediterraneo, which gratuitously provided its facilities for the implementation of the BIP.
