Cyprus Center for Algorithmic Transparency (CyCAT)
The Cyprus Center for Algorithmic Transparency, operating at OUC, aims to establish a network of researchers with key expertise in the areas of informatics and digital literacy. Among other broader impacts, CyCAT aims to create digital tools / databases that are relevant to the needs of Cypriotusers and which will be used to raise awareness about algorithmic bias (in particular, biases found in information access systems that the public routinely uses), the creation of digital material related to the development of such systems, as well as the strengthening of actions and interventions in Cyprus on the importance of digital and algorithmic literacy. The OUC research team includes Associate Professor Jahna Otterbacher (coordinator), Professor Michalinos Zembylas and Associate Professor Loizos Michael. The advanced partner organizations are the University of Sheffield (UK), the University of Haifa (Israel), the University of Trento (Italy)and the University of Edinburgh (UK).
