Message from the Rector

Dear friends, dear colleagues,

The Open University of Cyprus (OUC), the country’s only university devoted exclusively to open and distance education, marks sixteen years since its academic operation in the 2006-2007 academic year.

With coordinated steps of development, our University has achieved its recognition in the Greek-speaking area, and is now seeking to expand in international markets. The University’s growth is demonstrated by our approximately 8,000 graduates, 3,200 enrolled students in 50+ countries, the renowned academic & teaching staff and the funding they receive for educational and research projects, as well as our local and international collaborations with universities and research centers. Moreover, indicative of the growth of the OUC are the interdisciplinary and innovative programmes of study offered by its three Faculties, which include programmes unique in the Greek-speaking higher education area and joint programmes, the prestige of the members of our university community, as well as the University’s diverse cultural action and contribution to society.

Dear prospective students,

The educational methodology of OUC is based on the use of digital teaching and learning technologies, and the integration of e-learning tools and applications, which offer students a seamless learning experience. For its innovation in introducing eLearning tools in its teaching and learning strategy, our University has been awarded gold distinctions at the Cyprus Education Leaders Awards in 2019 and in 2020. OUC’s flexible educational methodology allows everyone to study from their personal space and in their own time and pace, and to obtain a useful and accredited degree. Affordable tuition, scholarships and a flexible economic policy contribute to equal access opportunities, so that anyone interested in studying at the Open University of Cyprus has the opportunity to do so and enroll in any of the 4 undergraduate and 25+ postgraduate programmes in both classical and cutting-edge fields the University offers, and study without the restrictions of conventional education.
