OPEN UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS SCHOLARSHIPS

The Open University of Cyprus recognizes the difficult economic conditions of our time and has therefore developed a policy of offering scholarships for the programmes operated solely by OUC. The scholarships are based on socio-economic criteria and aim to support students. At the same time, within the framework of each partnership, OUC has created a policy to grant scholarships to expatriate Cypriots, children of enclaved persons, Archbishopric and strategic partners. Scholarships are also granted to third-country nationals in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth.

The following sections provide information for new students on how to apply for scholarships. The scholarships for socio-economic criteria are announced at the beginning of each academic year, after the approval by the University bodies.

SOCIO-ECONOMIC CRITERIA

In every academic year, the Open University of Cyprus grants to new entrants the following scholarships based on Socio-Economic Criteria:

  • One Scholarship for each undergraduate & postgraduate, non-joint degree programme and
  • One scholarship per school for PhD programmes

Interested prospective students have to apply to a programme offered solely by OUC and enrol to at least one module per semester or academic year. The application period for these scholarships is announced at the beginning of the academic year. Students granted a scholarship, will be refunded the full amount paid in advance for enrollment.

Scholarship applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

ACADEMIC CRITERIA

  • High School Grade (for undergraduate students)
  • Bachelor Degree Grade (for master students)
  • Master Degree Grade (for PhD students)

SOCIO-ECONOMIC CRITERIA

At least one or more of the following:

  • Unemployed
  • Single Parent*
  • The student must have four or more children*
  • Orphan (benefit receiver)*

*based on Cyprus regulations

The scholarships cover the whole duration of the studies, provided that the student achieves a success grade in all the Modules attended.

Prospective students wishing to apply for a scholarship should submit the relevant Socio-Economic Criteria Scholarship Application, as well as the relevant certificates / supporting documents within the timeframe that will be announced by the Student and Programme Support Unit scholarships@ouc.ac.cyThe application period for the academic year 2020-2021 has closed.

 

EXTERNAL

The Open University of Cyprus grants scholarships to the following organisations:

 

Orthodox Archbishopric of Kenya  (Orthodox Teachers College of Kenya)

OUC grants one (1) full scholarship to OAK at the English programmes of study offered entirely by the OUC, to a beneficiary selected by OAK.

Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC)

Three (3) one-year scholarships are awarded to CyBC’s employees in Programmes of study offered entirely by OUC (not joint programmes). An application to CyBC must have already been submitted, along with an enrollment to an OUC programme of study.

 

PASYDY

Two (2) full scholarships and two (2) partial scholarships (50% of the total tuition fees) per academic year are awarded to members of PASYDY for attending postgraduate programmes of Study offered completely by OUC.

New entrant students that wish to claim a scholarship should meet the following Academic and Socio-economic criteria:​

ACADEMIC CRITERIA

  • Bachelor Degree Grade (for master students)

SOCIO ECONOMIC CRITERIA

At least one or more from the following:

  • Single Parent*
  • Student must have four or more children*
  • Orphan (benefit receiver)*

*based on Cyprus regulations

The scholarship that is given concern all student's studies duration, provided that he / she achieves a success grade in all the Module he / she attends in his / her programme of study.

Interested new entrant students that wish to claim a scholarship should:

- submit an application to a programme of study (master level) that is offered completely by OUC through the portal https://applications.ouc.ac.cy/admissions?sap-language=%CE%95%CE%9D

-send the relevant Socio-Economic Criteria Scholarship Application, as well as the relevant certificates / supporting documents and the verification that they are members of PASYDY at scholarships@ouc.ac.cy.

New entrants of the academic year 2021-2022 that are members of PASYDY and wish to claim a scholarship, can send their application until May 21th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

 

SCHOLARSHIP TO THIRD-COUNTRY NATIONALS

The following scholarships concerns third-country nationals from the following countries, for the academic year 2021-2022:

South Africa One (1) scholarship  at the English programme of study –MBA

Saudi Arabia One (1) scholarship at the English programme of study –MBA

Namibia One (1) scholarship at the English programme of study –MBA

 

Interested applicants that wish to claim a scholarship should:

  1. Have applied through the OUC portal at a programme of study.
  2. Send the scholarship application at scholarships@ouc.ac.cy.
