Faculty of the OUC among the top 2% of highly cited scientists in the world in their respective scientific fields

Three (3) Faculty members of the Open University of Cyprus (OUC) have been recognized among the world’s top 2% of scholars in their field in the study “Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators, 2020” published recently by a research team of the Stanford University.

Two OUC professors are contained in the first list referring to all years analyzed (1996-2019):

The second list referring to the year 2019 contains, in addition, Professor Yannis Manolopoulos (Data Management), Vice-Rector of the Open University of Cyprus.

The study retrieves data from the SCOPUS database, and using a range of parameters for each scientist's research contribution and influence, compiled the list of the top 100 000 scientists from all scientific subjects (as well as those ranked in the top 2% in their main subfield discipline).

The inclusion of OUC’s professors in the list of the most influential researchers in the world reflects the excellence of the University’s academics and researchers and the quality of their scientific work. “This exceptional distinction highlights the strong impact of the Open University of Cyprus in the global scientific community, the quality of the research produced by its academics, and the international recognition of its scientific potential”, pointed out Professor Petros Pashiardis, Rector of the Open University of Cyprus, who warmly congratulated the three professors for this important distinction.
