ΕΓΛ521: Research Methods for Language and Text

The objective of the module is to prepare students to act as independent researchers of language and texts. Specifically, through their familiarisation with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, the module focuses on training students to design and manage a research project (to define the topic, to formulate appropriate research questions and hypotheses, to compile a bibliography and carry out the literature review, to select the methodology appropriate for their research, to collect and analyse their data and to write scientific reports of their research). In addition, the module helps students understand ethical and deontological issues in academic research. Finally, the aim is to familiarise students with the field of Digital Humanities and with digital tools, corpora and databases for the study of the Greek language and of literary and non-literary texts.
