PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

The goal of the Master’s Degree Program “Healthcare Management” is to equip healthcare professionals and/or other professionals with specialized knowledge and managerial competencies and skills in the administration and management of healthcare units. Graduates of the program will have the ability to staff healthcare services in the public and private sectors, as well as central and regional services of the healthcare system, cultivating skills through a unique, innovative and flexible educational experience without sacrificing their professional progress and career.

The Open University of Cyprus (OUC), through its participation in the European project "Liaison Offices with the Labour Market", offers to students of all its programmes of study, the optional and free of charge Thematic Unit (i.e. Module) entitled "Industry Placement". This module provides students opportunities for a placement to gain professional experience in their particular field of study, and the hosting institution can be any public or private organisation operating in the Republic of Cyprus.

Each student has the right to participate in this offering once or twice during his / her studies, provided that s/he meets the required conditions.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

For admission to the Master’s Degree Program, applicants are required to hold a degree from a recognized higher education institution.

Prospective students are expected to have a good command of the English language, enabling them to access and engage effectively with English-language academic and scientific literature.

The total cost of the fees for this postgraduate programme will be announced.

Healthcare Management (120 ects)-Previous Structure

 

 

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The Programme is structured in nine (9) semester modules (10 ects each), out of which five (5) are compulsory and four (4) may be selected between five (5) elective modules and the Master Thesis (30 ects), which is optional and corresponds to three Modules.

The first two semesters consist of six (6) compulsory modules (three modules in each semester). The third semester students can choose three (3) modules or master thesis.

During the Master Thesis, no assignments are to be handed in and there is no teaching load. In the other Modules, students are required to prepare two papers per Module and Interactive activities and, in this way, establish a right to participate in the final exams if they collect half of the required score.

Each student can optionally enrol, once or twice, in the free of charge Thematic Module "Industry Placement", which awards five (5) ECTS. The module offers a structured placement, designed to offer students specific industry and professional experience in their particular field of study, and to allow them to build their skills in a real-world setting.
