The purpose of this Thematic Unit is the analysis and understanding of the comparative police administration through the study of various systems of policing and police administration. Through this Codule, students will examine and compare various law enforcement systems operating in Europe, the United States of America, Canada, as well as in Muslim communities. The similarities and differences in terms of administration, organisation, objectives and purposes of the various police authorities will be examined. Reference will be made to government control and the supervision exercised over police authorities. The level of satisfaction and relations between the public and the police for the selected states will also be studied, in order to enable students to better understand whether the various models of policing applied are democratic, whether they satisfy the public they are policing and whether their administration is effective and democratic.
