“Journalism and Digital Content in Emerging Media Markets” co-edited by Associate Professor Sofia Iordanidou

The collective volume “Journalism and Digital Content in Emerging Media Markets” examines key challenges in the digital era and their implications for journalism practice and public debate in emerging media markets. The book is co-edited by Associate Professor Sofia Iordanidou, Academic Coordinator of the MA Programme “Communication and New Journalism” of the Open University of Cyprus and Chairwoman of the Advanced Media Institute (AMI), Dr Nael Jebril, Associate Professor in the Media Studies Program at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and principal academic in journalism at Bournemouth University, and Dr Emmanouil Takas, Head of the Department of Psychology at City Unity College in Athens and AMI’s executive director.

The book, published by Palgrave Macmillan Cham, analyses digital journalists’ practices and perceptions in emerging media markets, discusses factors influencing the production of digital journalism in emerging media markets, and examines the perceived influence of digital media on audiences and public debate in emerging media markets. Specifically, it focuses on evidence from selected Southern and Eastern European countries as they represent cases where media markets face bigger technical and organizational challenges, but still share some similarities with their counterparts in central, western, and northern Europe.
