6+1 Proposals for Journalism- Safeguarding the Field in the Digital Era”, recently published by Intellect, is the title of the new collective volume co-edited by Sofia Iordanidou, Associate Professor at the Postgraduate Programme in “Communication and New Journalism” at the Open University of Cyprus, and Dr Chrysi Dagoula, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Media and Journalism Studies at the University of Groningen. The edited collection discusses, and recommends solutions to, challenges facing journalism in this digital age. It draws attention to seven key factors that not only highlight the present crisis in journalism, but also indicate the steps we need to take to safeguard and enhance trustworthy journalism for the future. The collective volume is an outcome of the international conference “Media, Polis, Agora: Journalism & Communication in the Digital Era” which was held in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Sofia Iordanidou is an Associate Professor of Journalism and Communication at the Open University of Cyprus, and the Chairwoman of the ”Advanced Media Institute, Applied Research in Communication and Journalism”. Since 2011, the M.A. Communication and Journalism has been developed and is being offered at the OUC, under her responsibility, while in 2021 she also designed the OUC Postgraduate Programme in “Media in Contemporary Schools”. She was the editor of 25 issues of the “Dimosiografia” journal and the website manager of dimosiografia.com.
