Empirical approaches in Social Sciences: The case of the ‘Credibility Revolution’ in Economics” is the title of the online public talk by Dr. Robert Duval Hernández , Assistant Professor and Academic Coordinator of the Postgraduate Programme in “Management, Technology and Quality” of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management of the Open University of Cyprus.

The talk will present a broad non-technical overview of the main empirical approaches used nowadays in Economics, with special emphasis on the so-called “Credibility Revolution”. Dr. Duval  Hernández will discuss several of the methodologies that are at the center of the research that was awarded the 2021 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. These empirical methodologies seek to establish causal relationships with the use of non-experimental data, and because of this they are applicable in other fields beyond Economics. The presentation will be in English, and it is of main interest to students, researchers, practitioners and academics in the fields of economic sciences.
