The BEC 112 module introduces students to the basic concepts of quantitative methods and their role in the analysis of economic data. It deals with fundamental topics of algebra such as equations, inequalities, equation solving, etc., as well as functions of one variable, their properties, and their differentiation. It also deals with fundamental topics of matrix and vector algebra, as well as determinants and inverse matrices, thus laying the foundation upon which the quantitative methods, addressed in the BEC112 module are built. Throughout the BEC112 module, emphasis is placed on the application of the relevant concepts and methods to typical problems in business and economics.
