This Thematic Unit aims at the analysis of important issues that police directors and leaders face today in the exercise of their duties. Also, the development of issues that affect effective governance and management, such as recruitment, innovation, evaluation, corruption and violence. Also, various theoretical approaches related to leadership and administration in the police authorities will be examined, as well as relevant decisions and policies that shape the administration of the Police. In the context of administrative skills, issues such as the empowerment of human resources, professionalism, stress and policing, politics and policing and external factors, which affect the proper functioning of policing, organizational theories, planning and decision-making, labor and trade union issues, will be analyzed. Regarding the issues related to leadership, emphasis will be placed on various theories related to management and an attempt will be made to compare these theories, so that students understand their pros and cons while being applied. Charismatic leaders and how they affect police morale and effectiveness will also be mentioned.
