BIH701Α: Master’s Thesis I

During the second year of full-time study, students may begin work on their Master's Thesis. The thesis is compulsory and is completed within the framework of two modules, BIH701A and BIH701B. The subject of research falls within the topics addressed by the modules of the MA Programme 'Bioethics, Medical Ethics and Healthcare Ethics'. Students will be invited, at least two months before the start of the semester of the first part of their thesis, to contact the instructors of the Programme in order to select a supervisor and to propose a topic for their thesis. During the first part of the thesis, the student is required to complete form OUC63 (initial declaration of thesis topic) and form OUC157. Form OUC157 constitutes the intermediate progress report of the Master's thesis; it has a length of 5,000–6,000 words and describes the objectives as finalised in form OUC63, the main points of the topic's development, the evolution of the research questions, and other related matters. The forms are submitted on the eclass platform and signed by both the student and the thesis supervisor. The first part of the thesis is evaluated with Pass or Fail by the supervisor.
