The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) participated in the Intercultural Training Week organised within the framework of the OpenEU University Alliance, held from 8 to 11 June 2026 at FernUniversität in Hagen, Germany. OUC was represented by Mr Nearchos Nearchou, Institutional Coordinator of the project, and Ms Athina Skotara, OUC Lead for Work Package 6 (WP6).

The programme comprised a series of experiential learning sessions, reflective activities, opportunities for the exchange of perspectives and practices, as well as networking events among the Alliance partners. Particular emphasis was placed on an educational visit to Dortmund, which incorporated cultural and experiential learning activities, alongside informal interactions that further strengthened collaboration and fostered mutual understanding among participants.

OUC representatives engaged in discussions concerning key aspects of project implementation and cooperation, exchanging views on the progress and future development of the initiative with Mr Sebastian Lauritz, Institutional Coordinator of FernUniversität, as well as with other members of the consortium.

OUC’s participation contributed significantly to the enhancement of intercultural competences and the promotion of European collaboration, further advancing the shared vision of an open, inclusive, and innovative European Higher Education Area.
