The OpenEU, in which the Open University of Cyprus (OUC) participates as a partner, is organizing a three day online Festival from 23 to 25 October 2026, entitled “The Open Canvas of Democracy.” The Festival aims to provide members of the academic community with the opportunity to come together, engage, and explore innovative approaches to understanding and practicing democracy, not as an abstract concept, but as a dynamic, lived, and participatory process
Within this context, the submission of original proposals and contributions is welcomed, including presentations, participation in workshops, and moderate discussions. Submissions are invited from across the entire University community-including students, academic and administrative staff, researchers, and external collaborators- with the aim of encouraging a dynamic exchange of ideas and fostering thoughtful, constructive dialogue.
Proposals and contributions, centered on democracy as a lived experience, should be relevant, inspiring, non-partisan, accessible, innovative, and aligned with EU values such as dignity, freedom, equality and the rule of law, may be submitted under the following thematic areas:

- Education & Knowledge
