Her Excellency, the Ambassador of France in Cyprus, Ms. Salina Grenet-Catalano, visited the Open University of Cyprus on December 12, 2023, following an invitation by the Rector of the University, Professor Petros Pashiardis.
During the meeting, Ms. Grenet-Catalano and Rector Pashiardis discussed possible areas for collaboration in the field of Higher Education between the Open University of Cyprus and Universities in France. The OUC Rector presented the Ambassador information regarding the strategic goals for the 2021-2024 period, as well as recent achievements of the University in the areas of education, research and innovation. He explained the specialization of the Open University of Cyprus in open and distance education, and the opportunities provided by its eLearning methodology for French citizens to enroll in English taught programmes of study offered by OUC. Ambassador Grenet-Catalano shared her vision to pursue collaborative activities that serve and support the scientific cooperation between Cyprus and France. She discussed the efforts made by the Embassy to support the possibility of creating new academic synergies between OUC and French Universities in cutting edge fields, such as educational leadership, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, shipping, environmental sciences and climate emergency, etc.
The meeting at the Open University of Cyprus was attended by Mr Eric Tosatti, Cooperation and Cultural Counsellor - Director of the French Institute of Cyprus, and Ms Hélène Francois-Iosifides, responsible for French courses and Campus France at the French Institute of Cyprus.
