The Open University of Cyprus joins the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN)

The Open University of Cyprus (OUC), in line with its one of its fundamental values, Social Responsibility and Contribution, joins as a full member the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), the world’s leading knowledge network for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SDSN Network aims to promote integrated approaches and solutions to address the growing economic, social and environmental challenges in achieving the SDGs set by United Nations. It is operating under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General since 2012, has presence in all continents, and more than 600 members. Its main goal is to encourage the cooperation and mobilization of the global scientific and technological community of the UN Member States, the public and private sector, and civil society, in exploring and applying best practices at local, national and international levels, in order to achieve the SDGs. Essentially, the SDSN is focusing on: a) Providing and mobilizing support for the SDGs, b) Promoting practical Solution Initiatives and long-term pathways for sustainable development, c) Promoting high-quality education and research collaboration for sustainable development, and d) Supporting governments in understanding and addressing the challenges of sustainable development.

In this context and based on its strategic planning, the Open University of Cyprus will participate in thematic networks and will implement projects and take initiatives to a) ensure that its operation aligned fully with priority SDGs, and b) to promote lifelong education for sustainable development.
