The Open University of Cyprus joins as a full member the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) network

The Open University of Cyprus (OUC), in line with its commitment to social contribution, and to sustainable development at the local, national, and international levels, joins as a full member the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) network. OUC is a public university, the only one in Cyprus devoted exclusively to open and distance education, and contributes to scientific knowledge production and technological development with research activities, for the benefit of the society, by promoting synergies between education and sustainable development.

UNAI is a United Nations initiative, a dynamic network of 1500 institutions in more than 147 countries,   aiming to promote  global priorities, including peace, human rights, and sustainable development. The Open University of Cyprus (OUC), is committed to support the UNAI network, carrying out actions relating to its principles, reinforcing the opportunities for cooperation with universities and institutions abroad, and enhancing its extroversion. The basic principles of UNAI are a) a commitment to the principles inherent in the United Nations Charter, b) to build capacity in higher education systems across the world, c) a commitment to advancing peace and conflict resolution through education, d) to promote intercultural dialogue and understanding, and the “unlearning” of intolerance, e) the protection of human rights, promoting opportunities without discrimination, f) to encourage global citizenship, g) a commitment to the opportunity for every interested individual to acquire the necessary skills for the pursuit of higher education, h) a commitment to addressing issues of poverty through education.
