2nd edition of the book entitled “Database Systems: Theory and Practice” (in Greek), co-authored by Professor Yannis Manolopoulos

Updated to include recent developments is the 2nd edition of the book entitled “Database Systems: Theory and Practice” (“Συστήματα Βάσεων Δεδομένων: Θεωρία και Πρακτική Εφαρμογή”, original title in Greek), co-authored by Professor Yannis Manolopoulos, Vice-Rector of the Open University of Cyprus, Dr. Apostolos Papadopoulos (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), Dr. Theodoros Tzouramanis (University of Thessaly), and Dr. Anastasios Gounaris (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). The book, published by New-Tech Publications, is an important educational resource for researchers, students and practitioners in the field of Database Systems, and it links theory to practice on contemporary issues with research interest worldwide.

The book deals with basic concepts of the field, such as data models, SQL language, query processing, concurrency and recovery algorithms, as well as advanced database technologies for storing, indexing, processing, managing and securing multimedia, spatial and temporal data, i.e. specific issues and technological developments that are emergent topics of research during the recent years.
