“Landscapes in the Eastern Mediterranean between the Future and the Past” New collective volume co-edited by Professor Ioannis Vogiatzakis

Landscapes in the Eastern Mediterranean between the Future and the Past is the title of the new collective volume, co-edited by Ioannis Vogiatzakis, Professor at the postgraduate programme «Environmental Conservation and Management»  of the Open University of Cyprus and Theano S. Terkenlis, Maria Gabriella Trovato and Nizar Abu-Jaber. The publication is a printed and web edition of the Special Issue with the same title that was published in Land, an open access scientific journal, and is a useful resource for academics and researchers alike.

“Landscapes” results from the interplay of physical, natural, and human/cultural elements of  our  surroundings  and  the  way  that  people  perceive  these  interactions. Given that landscape  is  considered  one  of  the  key  themes  of  policies  for  environmental  and  territorial  sustainability  and  has  been  on  the  political  agenda  of  European  countries, this   collective volume  aims  to  facilitate  the  broader  application  of  landscape  character  assessment  in  an  Eastern  Mediterranean   context,   in   accordance   with   local   and   regional   conditions   and   particularities,  by  critically  extrapolating  methods  and  techniques  which  are  well-established in Europe.
