Open University of Cyprus (OUC) offers PhD positions for the academic year 2018 – 2019, commencing studies from January 2019 (spring semester).

Up to 3 positions for Ph.D. studies in Computational Cognition / Artificial Intelligence, with emphasis in (but not limited to): machine learning, learning theory, cognitive science, social agents and robots, personal assistants, intelligent user interfaces, text comprehension, knowledge representation, commonsense reasoning, formal argumentation.

 Accepted Ph.D. students are expected to:

  • participate in ongoing and upcoming funded research projects
  • regularly have a physical presence at the OUC premises
  • be fluent in both spoken and written English
  • have excellent CS theory skills or excellent programming skills
  • hold degrees in relevant fields by accredited universities
  • (preferably) have prior project participation or published work
Applicants must hold an M.Sc. Degree, and have either strong programming skills or a solid background in Theoretical Computer Science. Admitted Ph.D. students will carry out their research at the Computational Cognition Lab at Open University of Cyprus, under the supervision of Dr. Loizos Michael (http://cognition.ouc.ac.cy/loizos).

PhD applications successfully submitted from November 14th, 2018 to May 8th, 2019, will be evaluate so that PhD candidates can commence their studies the fall semester of the 2019-2020 academic year.
