It is now commonly accepted that human health and prosperity depend on the quality of the environment. However, the natural environment is exposed to relentless human intervention on a daily basis. Sustainable management of natural resources, the implementation of decontamination technologies and renewable energy sources, as well as the development of appropriate methodologies are just some of the means required to improve environmental management.
The postgraduate degree in Environmental Conservation and Management adopts a multidisciplinary approach to environmental protection aimed at contributing to the dialogue within social and political levels while, at the same time, offering students a high level of expertise in environmental management. The objective is to promote sustainable management practices and techniques regarding environmental issues.

The minimum requirement for admission to a postgraduate programme is an undergraduate degree from an accredited Higher Education Institution.
Additional requirements, necessary for studying at the OUC which utilises the methodologies of open and distance learning supported by technology, include computer skills and access to e-mail and the Internet.
Very good knowledge of English. Bibliography in English (from journals and books) is widely used during the MSc. Therefore, students are expected to be able to study and comprehend English texts and lectures. Particularly, while undertaking their MSc dissertation, students will be using exclusively bibliography in English. , However, students are not expected to write or present coursework in English.
The total cost of the fees for this postgraduate program is 5,400 Euro.
The tuition fees for each module are 1,350€. The tuition fees for the Master Thesis are also 1,350€.

The Postgraduate Programme "Environmental Conservation and Management" offers two (2) specialisations:
- Energy and Pollution
- Terrestrial Ecosystem Management and Protection
The programme includes two compulsory Modules:
- DPP50, Natural Resources Management
- DPP51, Methods and Techniques in Environmental Research
Upon successful completion of these two compulsory modules, students choose the module of their specialisation.
Energy and Pollution:
- DPP60, Environmental Protection (Energy and Pollution)
Terrestrial Ecosystem Management and Protection:
- DPP61, Terrestrial Ecosystems’ Management and Protection
In addition, in order to obtain a master's degree, it is required to successfully submit a Master thesis (DPP701), in a subject chosen by the students, after consulting and cooperating with the professors of the programme.
Students can choose one or two Modules (30 ECTS) per Academic Year.
In total, to complete the programme and obtain a master's degree requires
(1) successful attendance and examination in three Modules and
(2) successful completion of a Master thesis.
