The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) and the Hellenic Open University (HOU) are the two universities in the Greek-speaking field of higher education that offer exclusively open and distance education. In the context of their cooperation, Professor Petros Pashiardis, Rector of OUC, and Mr. Christopher Christodoulides, OUC Director of Administration and Finance, had a meeting on June 14, 2021 in Athens, with Professor Odysseas-Ioannis Zoras, President of the Hellenic Open University.
The executives of the two universities discussed their strategic plans, and the important role that OUC and HOU should assume in the field of tertiary education and distance learning, especially taking into consideration the transformation and digitalization of education due to the covid-19 pandemic. During the meeting, they also discussed ideas for joint educational and research activities, as well as the two universities’ educational methodologies and investments in educational technology. The cooperation between OUC and HOU started in the academic year 2015-2016, when the operation of the joint postgraduate programme “Enterprise Risk Management” began. The future is expected to be more constructive and collaborative.
